TEF Listening Section Simplified: Important Update for September 2025
- 19 Oct, 2025
- Com 0

Essential TEF Listening Oral update for 2025 to help you succeed:
- Fewer answer choices for micro-trottoirs
- Double listening introduced for interviews
- Improved clarity and candidate experience
What’s Changing in the TEF Listening Section?
Starting September 1, 2025, the TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français) listening comprehension section will be slightly simplified to help candidates better understand the tasks and reduce the feeling of difficulty often associated with this part of the exam.
Here are the two main updates:
- Micro-trottoirs (short street interviews) will now have 3 answer choices instead of 4. This makes the questions more focused and easier to interpret.
- Interview segments will now allow two listens. This gives candidates a second chance to catch key information and offer more accurate responses.
Why Is This Change Happening?
The update is designed to improve the overall candidate experience. Many test-takers found the listening section to be challenging, so the new format focuses on clarity, fairness, and accessibility — without lowering the standard of the test.
